…………………………………………李察
No.8230 2011 0829 Monday)
What is best for Steve Jobs to do now?
By Leechard
Steve Jobs has quitted his job now. There are some concern about his health.
I would take this time to say something about Chinese medicine. I would guess, if he can take up the Chinese way of treatment, he might have a better chance to survive. But the point is not here. My point is, the Chinese way of thinking, or the Chinese way to explore the world, should be closely observed by the whole world.
It is not to say, whether the Chinese have or have not any real dedication to the modern science. They might have achieved something, or they are boosting too much. Or we may guess, the Chinese really did not know what is going on, or they did not know anything at all.
But the point is curiosity.
Any one who had tried a little bit, no matter that is acupuncture or chi kong, or the Chinese herbs, they will find it interesting. Most of the people would like to peep into that hole. To see what is going on there.
If you could feel one point of acupuncture, if you find the inserted needle could actually heal your pain, you will wish to know, what is the total theory about acupuncture. There are hundreds of acupuncture points in the human body, if you can find one, may be you will wish to know, what is the theory about that.
And some times, you need not a needle, you need only a finger, to massage into your acupuncture point, and you will feel the instant release of energy.
And then, you will find “chi” is actually there flowing around your body. What is chi? People would like to compare it with electricity always. But they are not the same kind of thing.
And there lies the second stage of your quest.
The first stage is the needle, which you do not need to know anything. The Chinese medicine doctor will do it for you. They will find the point, and insert the needle, and you will feel the difference. But Chi is the second stage. You need to “learn” to feel it. Once it is felt, once the energy is summoned by you, like the first electric shock, you will definitely know, you have entered a sphere of supernatural science. And your paradigm will be shifted then.
And that is only the beginning. To shift the whole paradigm need more study. Now, it is only a changed viewing angle.
As I have mentioned above, even the Chinese scholars themselves, can not explain it very clearly.
I can offer some of my personal guess only.
I guess that there must be a central source of energy in the Man. What is a Man? (In English, there is no word to express the proper concept of MAN, which is more then the human body, more then the external look of the body. It is the general description of one single unit of mankind.)
It’s this energy, pushes the heart to beat, and the lungs move, or kidney function. Without this energy, or the energy spread in an uneven way, then there will be trouble.
What is this energy then?
Chi itself, I would think, is the external form. Why external? Because you could feel it. Like the blood pressure, like the pulse, they are all external. Some thing more subtle must be there lying behind. It is the most secret part about life. Life is energy, but we can only measure the external behavior of the energy. This energy comes and we are here, gone and we are gone. But the energy has some external form. We can feel that the energy is like fire burning inside the stomach, and it can move, flowing to different parts of the human body.
But where does it go?
Some theories maintain that the flow is like a timed canal. It goes according to the time, the date, or even the year and the stars. But I think these theories are far from complete, and they are a bit too complicated, not easy to see it clearly.
And the other important issue is balance.
This is a very important issue in the Chinese system of medical thinking. The balance lies between five elements of the human. They can be named like heart, liver, pi, lung, and kidney. They are not the organs themselves, thought they bare the names. They are but symbols of the energy centers inside the man.
I would rather guess the five elements are like connected water tanks. The chi flows around them.
When the chi is uneven, then some tanks have more chi, and some have less. The problem is that whether you can summon the chi, push it towards the tank you want. By some very special way of exercises, most of the people can do that. Some of the exercises are in motion, and some are meditation. May be the meditation part is more subtle and more useful, as they can do directly into the inner part of the energy.
If this is physical, then some chemical thing could help to keep the balance. Chinese herbs can help to re-balance the five elements. And the herbs are classified not according to chemical analysis, but to the energy sources.
And this is the Chinese way to keep the Man a healthy Man.
First you try to control the chi.
Then you try to maintain the balance.
And that could be done by some kinds of exercises. And if you are too weak to do that, then the herbs could help a bit.
And above all, we should always remember, the chi is but the external form. The real difference is the inner form of life.
Where is my inner form of life?
First, it comes from heaven, if you have a very special gift, no one could take that away except yourself.
Second, it comes from the self. If the heaven gift is weak, then, one can always change it. Here something is very useful. That is wisdom. If you are wise enough, you can change your inner gift into a stronger position, thus healing every sickness.
It is to this point, that philosophy had involved. To have a better wisdom, one needs to know something about the universe, and the self. And it is only then, a new paradigm, a paradigm combining the western culture and the middle culture (not the east) will be emerged.
It is based on this, that I think it is advisable for the western talents to look into the middle culture, which is a proper name for the Chinese culture.
