Can we avoid sad feelings?

                        Leechard says:

For some strange reasons, suddenly I was crazy about one song: "Windmills of your mind". I listened to it repeatedly and I tried to remember the whole song for a whole Sunday.

I told my old friends about that, but no one was interested. I knew how people would have thought about sad songs. Life is so difficult; it is no good to add in more pressure for it. They prefer funny TV programs. At least you could laugh your lonely nights off.

But I found that real art can put the mind in peace and feelings were unavoidable. Sadness and Happiness or feeling angry was important parts of our life. It was where our wisdom lies. If there were no feeling, there would be no wisdom.

If you are sad, if you have tears, if you feel unhappy, do not hide it and do not avoid it. Just show it to the whole world.

Not every one can have that special ability to write a good sad song for the whole world. It was a blessing. And those who could enjoy it were also a blessing. Can you enjoy sadness? Yes you can.  It was when you have changed the sadness into art.  When you could show your feeling to another one, art was created. And we would say, it was more than art. It was wisdom.

Will the three powers go into war ?

                        Leechard says:

One thing for the whole world to consider is that would it be better for the three powers to get into wars or into deep and unsolvable conflicts?

In that case, the smaller powers might have a chance to survive and be prosperous.

If the three powers were not at odds with each other and were truly friendly with each other or even became real partners, would the world be worse?

It should be the worry for many other smaller powers to ponder.

There was a most ridiculous scene in the Middle East lately.

A Russian plane was shot down in Syria when the powers were getting together to fight the so-called IS.

It was like a funny football match. The players were attacking their fellow teammates but not the enemies.

And it was not ridiculous at all if one was in deep thoughts about the true nature of the powers.

However, the most interesting question is the above one.

Would it be better if they fight each other?

Should I love my God who may not be omnipotent?

                        Leechard says:

Omnipotent and God had become the same in the last several thousands of years in the Jewish tradition. And it had become a general idea in the West.

And the side effect is you can either believe in an omnipotent God or no god at all.

What is "omnipotent"? It doesn't only mean all powerful, but also mean the God is the only one, and any other god is evil thinking.

It was this faith that created the Jewish tradition, and also the other extreme religious thoughts.

It is rather difficult for the western mind to accept the non-omnipotent thought.

Shall I still love my God if he is not all-powerful and can do anything?

And you may ask, what is love? How should I love my God?

Questions are uncomfortable. People would not like it. It's easier for them to think: Should I keep my faith still? Or Should I go to church on Sundays?

They will not care to know that monotheism is exactly the source of problems nowadays. The thoughts of an omnipotent God produces unforgiving mind, and an unforgiving mind creates hatred and terrorism. It goes together with materialism. The root of terrorism is in the West. How strange yet it is true.

Should I love my God?

Yes, it is the answer of Jesus.

How do I love my God?

With wisdom and prayers. It's the teaching of Jesus also.

How do I pray?

What has Jesus told you? Find a silent and secret place.

Why Jesus needed a papa ?

                        Leechard says:
If we truly know religion, we could know many secrets in culture. But it is not easy to get into the core of religion, as it was protected by many taboos. The taboos were only human behavior, it was not necessary from the religion itself, but from human errors. If anyone is to break the taboos, they will crucify him like Jesus.

Why did Jesus need a papa?

Jesus had been working all his life trying to change the direction of an ancient cult of the Jews. According to the New Testament, he had denied it. But from the actions and the measures, he was actually pushing another direction.

His ideas were to love your neighbor and your enemies, do not blame others. (The correct wording here should be "judge", but the real meaning should be "blame". If there is no judgment among human beings, then there will be no wisdom also, which Jesus probably would not agree.)

But why should enemies be loved and not blamed?

The answer was hidden in his direction. He would not agree the ancient cult to kill the heresy; and to kill any one who was not in the same faith with the cult.

And there was a further deeper meaning in that.

God was not necessary omnipotent, as the priests had said.

It should be careful here. Not being omnipotent does not mean not powerful. And this is the most difficult part in religion. It can be partly powerful, it can change one's fate, or have lots of miracles, but it doesn't mean omnipotent. Some people deny religion; they will change from theism to atheism directly.

Can we imagine if God has a son? Then he may have a father. Then he may have ancestors. Then he must have a place to come from.

If Jesus needed a papa, His father might need one also. It would not be the nature of an omnipotent God.
An omnipotent god is core value in Terrorist faith also. This is what modern people should not neglect and forget.

Why did Jesus need a father?

His true meaning was that god was not necessary omnipotent. Gods could coexist with others too, and God might need the help of anyone, including us human beings.

water bomb

a water bomb to kill high rising building fires

How did the world shaped?

                        Leechard says:

The shaping force of the world is in culture pattern. It is not in politics, nor in religions, nor even in philosophies.

When people were trapped into the special pattern, they will live and think in a special way as the pattern constructed and defined.

The patterns didn't come in vain. The patterns were shaped by a combination of forces, such as philosophies, religions or politics. Sometimes it needed several religions to help building one culture pattern.

This is a huge subject. It needs time and space to elaborate. I can only list the very basic ideas here. Please refer to my book: "Who will be rich tomorrow" (In Chinese) for more details.

1.

The first pattern is India pattern. The Indians had a tradition of seeing things as sex oriented. Their early gods were sex heroes. And sex is linked into human desire. From then on, almost all major religions and philosophers have a priority of thoughts: The promotion or suppression of human desire. They have been in this conflict of thoughts for thousands of years. When people had put to much focus on the points of desire, they will tend to neglect other fields of study. All the important things in life were how to control desire.

Desire is not the same as morality.

Morality and the suppression of desire are completely different. Only when you can accept this, you will know the different thought between India and China.

2.

The Chinese pattern is morality.

Its not so complicated as the Indian pattern.

And the pattern was not invented by Confucius. It was a much older tradition of Chow dynasty. Confucius was but a scholar of Chow tradition.

Chow tradition was from In dynasty tradition. In people were very religious. They worship Ghosts. Chow people drove away In people. It was believed that In people had fled to South America. Chow people were opposite to the Ins. They thought Heaven is not important. They had invented a set of behavior rules. According to the rules, every one should respect elders. Elders were the final judges of every thing, including truth. And that is the basic of Chinese morality. When morality was considered more important than truth seeking, people were easily governed by morality.

3.

Western pattern was more complicated.

Western civilization was from two sources: Greek culture and Jewish culture. Greek culture had given them reasoning power and the Jewish culture had put them into difficult mode of passions.

Jesus had tried to change the old Jewish tradition. Jews believed in eye for eye and tooth for tooth, and maintained a one-god faith. That meant they would not allow heresy, or anything different to their core value. Jesus tried to change them by adding one more commandment of love, and before his death, Jesus said he would send a new spirit of truth to help people to gain wisdom.

Love and Wisdom are two major elements to change the old Jewish system. But Jesus had never been able to change the Jews with the two elements. As for the Catholic Church, they had become a suppressing power to wisdom since the middle age. And the other end of development was in the puritans. Puritans had turned love into an unbearable torment of religious rites. And that was why the Americans put pursuit of happiness into the Declaration of Independence. Though many had explained happiness in moral or religious terms, however, the average people might not care. Religious pressure had pushed the Western people to the other end. Materialism prevailed; external observation dominated all fields of study.

And those were the major sources of the Western Pattern:

Materialism with the support of reasoning power.

Wars and major recent political situations were reflections of materialism. However, idealism, love, and other religious faith were opposite healthy growths within the pattern of materialism.

Our world was shaped in the Indian pattern of desire control, the Chinese pattern of morality, and the Western pattern of materialism.

Different power sources like religions, political ideas, and philosophical ideas had little effort in shaping the world. They were just forces inside the patterns.

What am I thinking about the human situation? (part 2)

                        Leechard says:

First a human being would ask, what am I living for.

This was the question haunted me when I was a little kid. Until to day, I still cannot quite understand, how could a kid so young to ask a question like this.

But the question was good. It has given me lots of stimulation in my years of writing.

I could not tell where did the question come from. But the story of Bambi must have inspired me.

It was my first book. I still remember how I got that book. It was a summer night. A kind-hearted uncle came to visit us. I still remember his loving face. I had a little fever then. He said, take a coin to buy some candies. He had given me fifty cents. I was so happy that I had forgotten my fever completely. I ran to the shops in the corner of the street, thinking what could I buy with fifty cents. I brought the story of Bambi home and I have read it hundreds of times since.

And I had never realized that the story was actually my own story. My mother died one or two years later, same as the deer's mother.

When Bambi had lost his mother, there was an old deer to guide him, telling him many of the secrets about life in the forest.

A hunter had come to the forest. He fired a gun. The smell of the gun power spread around the forest for a very long time. And the forest was never the same as before. That was a smell Bambi had never have experienced. And his mother was gone since. The hunter was dead also. The old deer brought Bambi to see the corpse of the hunter. The hunter had a fight with another man. He died with his gun lying nearby. The smell of the gun power was so strong that Bambi could hardly breathe.

The old deer told Bambi, man is not perfect, and not sacred. They will die like every one else. And the old deer told him many other things that he had never heard of. They had become very good friends.

One day, the old deer told Bambi, his days have come and he has to go. Bambi asked him where would he go. The old deer did not answer. And Bambi had become the old deer from then on.

Bambi was the old deer.

How could a child's storybook tell you philosophy?

Yes, when you have read it hundreds of times.

As I am getting older and older now, the story kept coming back to me, just to remind me that very question:

What is the purpose of life?

As I have said earlier: "feeling is above understanding". Whenever you have the feeling, you will understand all. If you do not have that feeling, the theories will be too complicated for you.

The question is not an isolated question. It is the surface of another much bigger question:

What is the purpose of human being? In the long history of the universe, why a special species was here?

And this bigger question is not big enough. Another much bigger question is waiting for you:

What is the purpose of the Universe itself? What for?

And if some one have a very clear and logical mind, he needs not to have any "feeling" and he will say, the universe needs no "purpose". The so-called purpose is but the weakness of us human beings. Only we would ask such silly question and the universe will not bother to answer it.

And such idea would lead to a terrible conclusion, which is much more terrible then the terrorist idea: Then we need not to have a purpose in life. You are what you are and you can do what you like to do. That is all. Just do it.

And he would seek material pleasure, and seek vanity, and lie, and do every thing for a selfish purpose. He did have a purpose, but he denied it. He would not tell you. All his life was constructed on lies, and a lie doesn't need to tell you its purpose.

What is the purpose of life?

This is a question anyone would ask himself in the course of his life span. And I was lucky to have it so early. Many would face that question suddenly when they were failed at some point or when they had come to unsolvable difficulties. So people are always worried about failure. They hope and believe that they would never fail. But sooner and later they would die like every one else. They will die more tragically than others. It was when they came to the thought, what have I been doing all my life? What is the purpose of my life? It would be too late for them to think.

To ask for a purpose is very basic human behavior. If you are human, you have to answer it. Please don't say Just Do It. Ask first.

Then he would ask, is there a God to guide me?

Or, should I do as I like or do as God directs?

If he were willing to be guided by God, then he would have the resolution that God must be perfect.

He can never come to the thought that God may or may not be perfect.

Chinese philosophy is different. The major trend is from Confucius. He thought that the Heaven were far away and not connected to human beings. Therefore human beings need to behave themselves, that is, to obey the elders and that is morality. He thought morality is everything.

Yet the major thought of the Chinese were from other ancient myths.

The myths maintained that the Heaven was not balanced, and needed human effort to balance it.

This thought was very different from the West and the East.

Both the early Western philosopher and Indian thinkers thought the creator was perfect. The thought was not the same as the Chinese.

Another philosophy was Zhuang Zi. He thought that we human beings were created by the creator yet we were given a choice.

It means we are free.

We are not only free from the external aspect, as some politicians would think. We are free internally.

We would think we are equal yet we are not balanced and more importantly, we are free. We can help each other and we ought to.

Are human beings created equal or born equal?

How should I treat my fellow beings? Should I love them or make use of them?

If I love them, so what?  If we are in love, what is the next thing we ought to do?

The question remains unanswered till this moment. What are we human beings living for?

And now we can come back to the original question: What is the purpose of the Universe?

Or: What is the purpose of "all"?

Abraham Lincoln said for the people, or for "all the people", if you feel like to put it that way.

But what is the ultimate purpose of "all"? What are we human beings here for? What are the purposes?

Are we here to serve only? Are we not to be served but to serve?

And that needed a feeling.

If you know the purpose of your own life, you will know the purpose of the entire Universe.

It is just as funny as that.

Yet the most important question is not in philosophy, or religion. It is elsewhere. We will talk about it soon.

What am I thinking about the human situation ?

Leechard says:

The encounter last night with the Hong Kong police had been a good irritation for me. I am a street violinist. I play my music on the Hong Kong Streets by night. Those are my most happy moments in my life. But some times the police would come and ordered me to stop. They would say I am begging and produces noise. When I argue with them, they would say, according to the law of Hong Kong, street music is not allowed.

That night when I came home, I could not stop to think why.

Why my books cannot publish in Hong Kong, and why my column was not allowed to continue and why my songs cannot be sung, and now, I cannot even play violin on the streets. And when people are talking about the poverty situation in Hong Kong, they must have forgotten that begging is illegal. If you are in urgent need, you cannot beg from the kind hearted people. You would not be allowed to have any way to go. All doors were closed for you.

The so-called democracy is fake. There is no democracy in Hong Kong.

Is there any democracy elsewhere? I cannot tell. I can only say I don't know. Can the external system protect us human beings? I doubt it. And sometimes it is only a tool, to over throw governments and makes power change hands.

Can human beings achieve something internally and keep their mind in peace to maintain a peaceful situation for the whole world to work for a better living condition for every one? I doubt that also.

I had tried to read from the noble minds from ancient till present to settle my mind. I had even converted myself into a Catholic just to try to understand more about Jesus and his teachings.

I had read Earnest Hemingway. I admired him when he thought he was the last one to fight on. However he had failed tragically. He had committed suicide and given up his cause to fight on. I dare not say Jesus Christ was failed also. But he had no followers. When he had peached about love and wisdom, he had not much time left indeed. He had only three years to peach love, when he found love is not enough and he said he would send the spirit of truth to teach people more wisdom so as they would understand the human and maybe the universal situation. I would guess what he meant by love. Love is not love when there is no wisdom inside. However, his words were neglected. And the spirit of truth had never come. And this is a question, if your mind is in question, my dear Pope Frances, I doubt that you can settle yourself in peace. May be there are too much politics for you to handle, you are too busy to think. Poor guy.

Yet the noblest spirit is Abraham Lincoln. He is my tower of power. Whenever I was in weakness, whenever I can remember him, I would have courage to fight on.

He said a government for the people shall not perish from the earth.

But he was careless to say such a word. For the people? For what people? Is it for the United States people only and the Mexicans were not included? Not to mention so many other nations?

If Abraham Lincoln can wake up from the tomb, he would have corrected his speech. If he were here he would say, it is for all the people, not only for the United States people. And he would be neglected as usual. The Senators would not call for a panel to hear him. What a poor guy he was and he is.

I will write more about my philosophy tomorrow.

What if I am the Government of myself ?

                         Leechard says:

Abraham Lincoln said: " Government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth."

If I am the controller of myself, what should I do to survive?

I would hope the controller be wise enough to know that he must be something of the individual, by the nature and for the whole.

Many stupid guys would think: They are born of the individual and by the individual and for the individual.

Their ultimate goal in life is self-interest. But it must be wrong and perishable.

We are not all the same. We are all different. That is the true nature of nature. Yet we must be individual. It is only in the form of individuality that we can offer our dedication. And the ultimate receiver of our dedication should be the whole. A controller of himself shall not perish if he thinks like that.

What is the next worst thing ?

Leechard says:

The first bad thing on earth is stupidity.

The next one is to blame.

I would say HDB is better. It means Help, Don't Blame.

Once we started blaming on others, the problem will never be resolved.

For example, when the US is to pull out of the Paris Accord, don't blame them. Help them.

They cannot afford millions of people lost their jobs. Help them, if you can. Help and do not blame. If we cannot offer a helping hand, at least, we should try to understand more and see how the problems can be avoided.

It is not sure which of the geniuses had invented the term "international elite". You saw it suddenly on the media. And some times it is "so-called international elite".

It is invented after the pull out. Before, they are addressed with honor as "international communities".

And now it has changed the status. They were isolated into a few people who were against the pull out. Perhaps the next step would be demonization.

When people started blaming on each other, that means total failure will not be far.

The first thing we should avoid is being stupid.

The next thing we should do is to avoid blaming others.

Thou shall not be stupid and thou shall not blame.

What is the worst thing on earth ?

Leechard says:

I would name a few worst things on earth:

One is stupidity.

Two is greed.

Three is hate.

The most stupid thing in human being is that they cannot distinguish internal from external. They don't know what is life and can only see the material side in life.

Once they were blind in this aspect, they will never know what is happiness or why are they living for. They would know what is eating, what is sex, etc. But they don't know what is love. Their life is no different from animals, except that they are much more greedy than animals.

Sometimes they will have spiritual enjoyment. It is called vanity. When they are admired and envied by others, they are happy. And it is the only thing they are aiming at and fighting for.

Their achievements are no match of plants and animals.

They can see only external things. They thought those were all they need in life.

And this will lead to greediness.

They want more.

And hatred follows.

All the conflicts and wars happened this way.

They are stupid.

A wise guy needs not know the theories about internal and external.

He has got a feeling. He saw and he felt and he knew. From the first instinct he knew what he was going to do.

This must be the highest secret in life.

Feeling is above understanding.

All their need is that little bit of feeling. If they can feel how their parents loved them and how they expected them to do, they will have a better life.

If they can feel the sound, the colors, the love, the emotions and stories and everything, they will not be stupid.

The only thing stupid guys know is hatred. They would hate anyone who is better off then they do.
Or any one who tried to talk to them.

It is no cure. Feeling is above understanding. No matter how you tell them, they would simply not know.

And that is why you need not talking with animals.
