Why can't happiness be a goal in life?

It seems to be a simple matter at first. 

Happiness is not a goal.

If your goal is to seek happiness,  then it is almost impossible for you to reach happiness.

However, this is a much more complicated matter for a serious thinker.

Some people regard happiness as a very simple thing:  

Go for a drink,  got drunk,  and you will be happy.

But many other people do not think so.

Lots of people have never tasted happiness all their life.

Happiness is a much more higher feeling.

You will not wish to come back to earth if you have reached that feeling.

But happiness could not be a goal in your life.

Because the moment you seek to go for happiness,  happiness will be gone.

Happiness is granted.  It is given.  It cannot be acquired.

The goal of life could be to serve, or to search,  or anyother objective, but not happiness.

The moment you are seeking happiness, the moment you will not be completely  satisfied,  a feeling of uneasiness will arise.

And this is a complicated matter.   Because it is related to the goal of life.

But the goal of life cannot be fully understood until you know what is the goal of the universe:  and that means you need to know the goal of the Unknown.

All of us can have only a temporary goal of life.

No matter your goal is to serve or to search,  or to have more money,  its temporary.

When you are succeed in doing something, you'll be happy.  But still,  happiness is a reward for your goal.  If you do have a noble goal,   you will be prepared to sacrifice and to suffer.....personal happiness might not be your concern.

 You will be granted happiness in due course.
