Heard some experiences from French friends who had participated in the Scandinavian education system,
one spent time in a Finnish university. He was shocked by the fact that Finnish university students seem to be extremely lazy - they never respect homework deadlines, and once the day is due but they cannot produce the work, then the professor would delay the deadline, then at the next deadline will be set up. the same will happen until the professor cancels the assignment outright, so the student never has to hand in the homework.
another one spent time in a swedish high school. she remarks that the class is constantly noisy as only very few students really pay attention to the class. The students would talk on their mobile phone, chat, eat and drink, and leave and enter the class without asking for permission. She says it seems that the swedish system is completely free (in cost) but extremely well equipped, yet the resources are very much abused.
