"What shall I do?"

  "What shall I do?"

This was the first sentence I learned when I was learning English.

It was still in my mind after so many years,  when a strange thouglht about the universe floated.

Few would have a connection between the universe and his daily livelihood.

Once you have such connections, you feel different.

Why I need to know the beginning or non-beginning of this universe?

You can live perfectly well without any awareness about that.

Do I need to love my parents and brothers and sisters ? Do I need to love my country?  And now you ask me: "Do I need to have some concern about the universe?"

Yes, this is a feeling happened long ago in our history.   It is so called "The unity of man and nature"(天人合一).

It is more than love.

Because it is a concern, it is a feeling;  or even,  it is an unity.

You can be a true human if you have that feeling.

It was well said in a Chinese  expression:  頂天立地.  And this is not easy to translate into English:  it could be a true human if some one is  "A towering and unyielding presence".

The point is a "presence".

I would say:  "You are and I am a presence,  here in this place,  in this earth, in this universe."

Yet the question is not answered:

What shall I do?

Maybe you have your answer already.
