Why Chinese language is a language of light, not sound?

9553

Chinese words will reach your eyeball directly through light in reading.  But in a spelling language,  the syllables of sound will reach your eye(!) and then your brain.   Your brain needs to work to translate the spelling into an inner sound to get the meaning.

Chinese language is a language using light to contact.

English is a language using sound to contact.

Do I need to translate those syllables every time when I try to get into the meaning of the words?

This is the reason why I recommend people with higher intelligence to learn Chinese in another approach:

Learn to write before you try to speak the Chinese  language.

When you are familiar with the words,  the words or the shapes of the words will become recognizable, and meaningful.

And to voice out the word is
an easier job later.

And of course, you can pronounce the word when you are writing.

The secret is write more say less.

Use a pen to write, not a typewriter.   Even better is to use a Chinese brush to write.  You will scare your Chinese teacher to death when you say you want to learn to write in 毛筆(writing brush) first.

This is an experiment for interested people only.
