Why Li Si(李斯) failed ?

The failure of Li Si is famous in the Chinese history.  He died a tragic death,  his body was cut into two from the waist.

All because he was powerless.   He was only an adviser,   he did not have soldiers,  and he cannot control the army.  His failure is certain not because of his idea, but because he was powerless.

There are lots of political theories about power and its control.

But in fact, none of the power was in the hands of the people.  Election was only a game.

The power was in the Emperor of Qin and a small group of people in history.

And more important is in the thoughts of Li Si.

He did not care about the whole country.   He had only self interest in his mind.  But he could not protect himself.

Politics is a game in many aspects.  

Julius Caesar minded about the country more than himself,  but he was assassinated easily.   He could not read the minds of his subordinates.   Everyone around had a thought to kill him, but he did not know. 

If he knew more about his comrades,  and if he knew how to protect himself,  Rome will be truely great.

When people can only see far away but cannot see  nearby danger,  tragedy will happen.

Nearby people will keep your eyes and ears shut and closed,  it is most dangerous.

A mobile phone is dangerous for modern leaders.  It is the aim of flying missiles.  But the mobile phone is more than your eyes.   It is your tool for thinking.

Can you give away your eyes and ears to avoid  missile attacks?

It is the most important dilemma in modern politics.
