　　至於惠子，表面看好像很雄辯，很理智。但實際上，惠子是否定直接溝通，亦即否定內在溝通的。

　　李察也有類似經驗。有一次，從金魚缸裡撈起了一小袋餵魚的蝌蚪，送到郊外的山澗去野放。那天陽光很好，山澗裡的水很淺，水底有被太陽曬得發黃的青苔。最初還耽心蝌蚪們是否習慣那樣的環境。料不到，一放下去，小蝌蚪們就十分自然的散開了。扭擺尾巴，好像很快樂那樣。

　　如果你問我，你怎麼知道蝌蚪是快樂的。我會告訴你：我是直接感受的。

　　以上的描述：太陽、青苔、曬得發黃的老青苔、山澗、淺水、金魚缸、還有人的耽心、人的疑問（是否習慣）、人的參與（從金魚缸帶到野外），等等一串資料，都是外在的。外在資料，未必需要否定，但也未必可以提供真正訊息。而真正訊息是簡單直接的。他們是快樂的，就是快樂的。

　　至於惠子的方法，卻是隔絕的，未必可以知道魚是快樂還是不快樂。

　　或者現代的科學家會捉幾條上來，解剖，觀察魚的腦電波有甚麼變化，從而推斷魚的心理狀態、、、這類外在方法不能否定。但是，如果只用一種方法，就有所欠缺了。

Zhuangzi and Huizi were strolling on the bridge over the Hao River. Zhuangzi said, "The minnows swim about so freely and leisurely—this is their happiness." Huizi said, "You are not a fish—how do you know that the fish are happy?" Zhuangzi said, "You are not me—how do you know that I do not know that the fish are happy?" Huizi said, "I am not you, so of course I do not know about you. But you are also not a fish, so you do not know that the fish are happy—isn't that perfectly clear?" Zhuangzi said, "Let's go back to the root of the matter. You asked me, 'How do you know that the fish are happy?' Since you already knew that I know the fish are happy, you still asked. I know it right here on the Hao River."

(Li Cha’s note: Classical Chinese is not necessarily harder to understand than modern Chinese. This passage actually needs no translation. Translating it wouldn’t make it any easier.)

If you only look at this from the perspective of debate, studying only who won the argument, you will never grasp the heart of the issue.

The heart of the issue is communication.

And communication can be direct. Whether a fish is happy or not can be known directly—there is no need to search for information from external data.

On this point alone, it is possible to know: this story may well be true. Because communicating directly from within oneself with all things is Zhuangzi’s way. But it must also be said: Zhuangzi advocates a balance between inner and outer; he does not reject external information.

As for Huizi, on the surface he seems very eloquent and logical. But in fact, Huizi denies direct communication—that is, he denies inner communication.

Li Cha has had a similar experience. Once, he scooped a small bag of tadpoles from a goldfish bowl and released them into a mountain stream on the outskirts of the city. The sunlight was beautiful that day. The stream was shallow, and at the bottom lay moss turned yellow by the sun. At first he worried whether the tadpoles would adapt to the new environment. But to his surprise, as soon as he released them, the little tadpoles scattered quite naturally, wriggling their tails as if full of joy.

If you ask me, “How do you know the tadpoles were happy?” I would tell you: I felt it directly.

The above description—the sun, the moss, the old moss turned yellow by sunlight, the mountain stream, the shallow water, the goldfish bowl, a person’s concern, a person’s doubt (whether they would adapt), a person’s involvement (carrying them from the bowl to the wild)—all these are external data. External data need not be denied, but neither do they necessarily provide true information. The real information is simple and direct. They were happy—that’s all.

Huizi’s method, by contrast, is one of separation—it cannot really know whether fish are happy or unhappy.

Modern scientists might catch a few fish, dissect them, observe changes in their brain waves, and thereby infer the fish’s psychological state… Such external methods cannot be dismissed. But if we rely on only one method, something is missing.

There are always two approaches for any direction.

You can reach directly with your own intuition or your subjective understanding -- it is not allowed in most of the western methods.  

And you can also use some indirect way to understand things.   You can investigate. 

Anyone with a sensible sense will tell you it's best to combine the two:   You need to use your subjective understanding and reach directly into the core of matters,  but you also need to investige thoroughly and completely.

It is a theory not easy to deny.  

It seems there will be no other way if you are not doing it objectively and not subjectively.

It will not be so simple and so easy as that.

Or else anything in the world is easy.

What you need is to have a mind of your own.

Sometimes you can reach the core of matters in the midnight during your sleep.   You wake up suddenly and you find the reality in the deep of a dark night without any help.

You don't need to have a pencil to write it down immediately.   Because if you wake up your left side of your brain,  and if you try to use language to note down matters,   you will have lost the insight.

It is never logical,  and it is not even subjective or objective.   Some people said insights were from heaven.  However,  you don't need to care whether it is from heaven or from your deep mind.

Important is to be quiet and reach it. 

To reach what? to reach afar as said by the ancient talent Zhuge Liang?

No.   It is not to be far or short.   The inner core is not a distance.   It is a reality.

And you are not necessary to remain quiet.

You can sing, you can dance, you can climb a hill, you can go afar.   When the insight is coming,  just dont deny it.

The worst thing is to deny it through your subordinate advisers.   If they are so smart, they will be in your place already.   They can research, they can investigate, they can calculate. But they cannot have your own instinct.

Be quiet is important.   It means you are thinking.  If you don't think,  it is useless to be quiet.

So Zhuge Liang must be right:

And it is possible.

If we put life into a higher observing point,  we can see life is a chain of unending line that the line is composed by  numerous lives.   And you can also put it this way:  "If you are Sun Wu Kong and you will not die, then what are you going to do?"

It is interesting.

If everybody will not die,   what are they going to do?

And the question might put it this way:

What is the purpose of human beings?

What is the purpose of my own life?

What is the purpose of me ?

What is the purpose of me...... and my friends?

It is important.

Because if you have a purpose,  you will work for it.

If you do not have a purpose,   still you will be going for it.   Because you are being pushed(?)

Journey to the West begins with a very basic question. The question is: "Life is short. What should we do?"

But, the words in the book would not be written like this. Because, this book is for people of different levels. The general public reads stories.  But friends will see great meanings.

From the story, Sun Wukong just thought that life is short and very short.

He suddenly felt a sense of sadness, and then: He started a pursuit that goes through the whole planet. And the so-called "the whole planet" :  There are actually four continents: East Victory holy land, West Niu He Chau,  South Jim Zhou, and North Qiluzhou. These four major provinces are Buddhist terms, the author of the book borrowed them.

What does Sun Wukong wants to pursue?  The book says that what he wants to pursue is "Long life". Anyway, the author has given Sun Wukong a reason to search.

What does Sun Wukong pursue? Is it really "eternal life"? The author is worring if we don't know that he had already been answered  in the book. The story says that actually:  Sun Wu kong

(The Emptiness Awared One) has already obtained longevity. He has already gone to hell, And he had corrected the "Book of life and death".  His name was deleted by himself.  He not only deleted his own name, but also all his monkey friends.....

In the hell's roster, there is no name for him. He has already transcended the life circle, he doesn't need to queue up to die.

This means that he has already obtained "eternal life". And he has already obtained the "long life" for his followers, they have all been given a lifetime. 

At that time, he had not yet known Monk Tong(唐僧), nor had he yet known his job is to explore the West, but he has been granted a "eternal life".

What else does he want to pursue, if he has been granted to live forever?

And we, if we have the same confidence that we humans are super and we are all immortal, what else should we pursue?

How much time should take to think about it?

　　《西遊記》是從一個很基本的問題開始的。這問

題就是：「人生苦短，我們應該做甚麼？」

　　但是，書中的文字，是不會這樣寫的。因為，這

本書，是給不同程度的人看的。一般人看的是故事，

但喜歡思考的朋友，卻會看到其中的微言大義。

　

　　從故事看，孫悟空只不過是想到，人生苦短，很

快就要輪迴轉生，他忽然感覺悲哀起來，於是，就開

始了一個走遍全個地球的追尋。而所謂「全個地球」，

在書中其實是四大洲：東勝神洲，西牛賀洲，南贍部

洲，北俱蘆洲。這四大部洲是佛教名詞，被《西遊記》

的作者借用了。

　

　　孫悟空想追尋甚麼呢？書中說，他想追尋的是「長

生」。而喜歡看神怪故事的小朋友，也全不當這是一

不了解，早早已經在書中解答了。故事說，其實孫悟

空一早已經得到長生。他已經到過地獄，把生死簿中

自己的名字塗去了。他不但塗去自己的名字，還把所

有他認識的猴子朋友，名字都塗去了。

　

　　地獄名冊中，是沒有他的名字的。他已經超脫輪

迴了，他不用排隊送死了。

　　這就是說，他一早已經得到了「長生」。連帶所

有他的追隨者們，都已經得到了「長生」。如果讀書

的朋友聯想力再豐富一些，你可以這樣說的：任何投

入去看《西遊記》的朋友，都已經在事實上得到了「長

生」。而孫悟空遊地獄的情節，是在往西天之前的。

其時，他尚未認識唐僧，尚未知道需要去西方探索，

但是，他已經得到長生了。

　

　　他還要追求甚麼呢？

　　

　　而我們，如果我們也有這樣的信心：我們都是超

脫輪迴的，我們都是永生的，我們還要追求甚麼？

What is the significance of Qi?

The significance of Qi is in the approach.  It is another direction to see the world,   to see how we humans are composed.   It is  more than the composition of a set of parts,  but it is a life,  and life is a whole, not a computer of chips.

We might need another hundred years to understand how life is a whole but not stitched up organs.

The Western knife is a good tool to separate things.  You can always cut it open to see.   But there might be other approach to feel it.

The debates can be going on and on about which way is better.  However  sometimes  you need only to try and feel it.

Qi is not electricity.   And it might be more than the term of "energy" we usually use.

Qi is not life itself,  but its very close to the concept of life.

Maybe the best part is about the usage.   Because Qi can strengthen your life force.

Is it just like a cup of coffee?

Yes, the feeling is strengthening,  but it is an inner feeling, not external stimulation.

This approach is important.   Because it can show the reality of life for us.

It is completely not the same as the luxury and entertainments which can give a temporary release of pressures of life.

Because it is like a spirit.  And its real.

When you have felt the Qi approaching,  you are raised.

You'll be much smarter than before.

It's my temporary understanding about Qi.   If I can find the external use of Qi,  I will tell you.

I think Qi might be the same as life.   Your life is internal.   Your life is always within you.   It is the same as your soul and your spirit.   They are all internal.   They are all yours.   You can share your wealth,   but you cannot share your life.   You can only dedicate your life.  

Qi is yours.  Qi is within.

You can produce Qi,  when you need it to help.

You can sing a song,  but no other person can sing the same as your voice.

It is forever yours.

Same is your deeds.   Same is your life. 

What is the meaning?

You can only learn it, but you cannot buy it.

What if I am sick and a Qi teacher gives me some of his Qi and heals me?

The teacher may induce your own Qi.  But I am not sure whether he can give you his Qi:   Its my personal observation.

For  a serious minded person,  it could be a trap for him to waste his life time to search.

If he can beat  the natural law to release qi like  electricity,  all humans will have a better life.

How to move your "qi"?

"Qi"  is everywhere around the human body. I thought "qi" is an energy,  it is this unseen energy supporting all functions in your body.

It is the digestion, it is the blood movement, it is the  nerve communication.....

some of the qi can be controlled by one's "will" but not all.

I thought all movement of the human body is supported by qi.  And if the qi is willfully strengthened,  it helps in many way.

You can run faster, or sing better, or write better with qi. Because you can always use your will to control qi.

You will not die easily if your qi is supported by your will.   Even really sick person,   if he has a will to support himself,  he can last longer.

If someone says:  " I'm not going to die because I need to support my child."   His will is very helpful in supporting his life.

The relation between "will" and "qi" is always seen in special moments.

Interesting is whether the qi can use indirectly. 

Can a doctor heal a patient with qi from a distance?  It might need more honest study to prove it.  But it is very helpful to heal minor sufferings with massage in qi.

Can qi heal a very sich person or fatally wounded person?  I hope future science can show more.

My question is how to move your qi.

Qi can be moved along the Meridian points.

If you are familiar with the  Meridian map in your body,  and follow the routes with a hand to guide it,  qi would follow.  There is no secret,  any serious  practitioner can try and prove its effect in healing.

What will future people look like?

Actually, the more important thing is about the mind.  Future mind will determine the future of human beings.

Will future peoples thinking the same as we think?

Will they have a wider eyesight to see around?

Will they be less selfish?   Or will they be completely not selfish at all?   Will they be working the same as bees or ants? 

I think certainly not.

Their mind will be more advanced.

They will know what is best for them.

Do we humans know what is the best for us now?

It is hard to say.  I'm not sure what is the best thing to do in our time.

People can know what is best for them.  Only that humans cannot control themselves.  Humans are doing things harmful to themselves always.

I think wars will happen again and again. But I believe wars will be less and less in the future.   Maybe one day there will be no war at all.  It means the gap between the rich and the poor will be smaller,  its so small that it needs not any war to settle it.

The most important factor to stop us from improving is selfishness.

The world will be really improving if we can be less selfish.

Selfishness could be the first target fo us to work on.

Future minds will be less selfish.

It meant all Chinese people is united. It meant China is completely united as one. But the meaning is more psychological than practical.  Because the Chinese government is acting as a completely self-controled center already.

The question is what will happen afterwards?

The governance within China is no problem.   The question is:  how would China deal with the world afterwards?  Will there be any thing new?

Geographical or political wars are limited in the future.   There will not be a 3rd world war as expected.  Though regional conflicts will not be stopped.

For China, the most dangerous war is mind-war.   It won't be happening in other places with a strong religious tradition.   China is extremely weak in mind matters.   Chinese mind is not only weak,  but weak in many spheres.   It was due to the long time Confucius influences.   The Chinese mind was not strong enough, if not shattered.   There is no leading point  in the Chinese mind.    Leadership in the mind business is not a concern.

And this is only comparative.   It doesn't mean the Western mind is strong.  Religious faith in the West is broken long ago. What is left is only materialistic influence with a very weak faith of love. This is the basics of a future mind-war.

The future mind-war  will be serious and influential.  It is not easy to know how it will be developed.   In the case of a complete victory of the negative sided mind-war,   the country will be completely ruined like another opium war.

Will it be so easy and will it be exaggerating about the mind forces?

Yes, the material trend is not to be neglected  absolutely.   The so called "money"  is a magic.   It is much more stronger than opium.  People will be alerted in the cases of drugs.   But the material trend under the disguise of smile is much more dangerous.

What I have mentioned is only a term.  "Mind-war" has not been seriously dealt with.  People are too busy handling all sorts of important matters.

It is not easy to make up the mind to build a stronger mind to fight the devils. Here is one pretext existing to stop people from working on the mind.

The pretext is simple:

"Oh, we are not returning to the age of Cultural Revolution....... "

If the reunion with the Taiwan people is successful,  A mind-war is the only chance for the enemies..

No one is to stay forever. I think the human chain is a chain of thoughts,  or a chain of spiritual achievements.   Theoretically, everyone has a part in this achievement.   Can you say someone is achieving more and someone is achieving less?

That is really a puzzle for all.   No one will be happy if he is busy calculating how much he has gained and how much he has kept.

The first important thing is to forget.

There needs not to have a mileage meter in your mind.  You just keep going and that's all.

If you do have a goal in your life, that's fine. But it is necessarily your own goal.  And it is meaningless to find out the meaning in it.

Yes, I am a king in my own kingdom.  It is the same as the snail is a king in his naildom.   So long if he can keep his shell.

I was a very naughty boy when I was young.   I have tried to pull out the snail from its shell......   When I am older,  I will advise young people not to do that,  and I am sure no one will listen.

If you are a snail just go like a snail.

I was thinking about a story how a snail tried to put wheels on his shell.   It would be wonderful if he can travel on the wheels.  He will be a snail no more.   And that is fine.   I believe this is the design of the creator:   You are allowed to change your own fate if you try.

I would be rather happy if I believe that I am allowed.

Allowed by the creator of course.   Some people in Hong Kong do not like me to write.   Because they thought I am intruding to their plan for Hong Kong. They have tried to kill me several times. 

However, I do believe,  if I have my own life, then  Hong Kong will have her own life too.

Hong Kong is growing.  Like what?

Will it be like a wheeled snail?

Sorry, I am not talking about economy.  It is only a story for children. 

Yes, we need snails.  If we have no snails on this planet,   it will be really bad.

It wont be interesting if everyone is running like a mouse.   It was so fast and you can never catch it.

I think smart people can catch the meaning behind.

"Naildom"  is good place to stay.  But dont mix up "snaildom"  and "naildom".....they are different, I suppose.

If people are engaged in a "naildom",  he might need to work harder to drive in places. But the sort of "snaildom" seems more comfortable.

Why humans are not even searching?

The term "searching" was used by some later  intellectuals.   They thought they are searching for something.   It might not be the mind in the early humans.  Then what are we humans for?   I think it is still a highest secret for us all.

What are we living for?  What is our purpose?

A thought occurred to me:

We are not even searching for happiness.

Happiness is only a modern term. A baby will not know what is happiness. A baby has only some basic necessities in life. A baby will not know what he is living for. And so are we. It is exactly the same as a tree on the roadside. The tree will not know what he is living for. But he is working hard to gain water, sunshine and to live on.   It is an urge given to him. It is by born.  It is not asquired.

Therefore it is only a faith.

A faith is not necessarily religious. It might only be a temporary thought.  You think you are living for something.   And you can also think that you are not living for something.

Then what are you living for?

You can determine your own way of living.

You can only say it.

And it is yours,  it will be yours.

If humans want to live for a certain goal or purpose in life,   they are free to do it.

It means you are free.

And you can always ask:   What do I have?  Where am I going?

It is very basic.

We have a term for it:

It is the beginning of consciousness.

And it is only the beginning.

Because it is only in the minds of a few.

Very few people have it.

And the worst case is:   People do not share what they have in their thoughts.  They thought they are the higher class and they are not willing to share it with other people. They think they knew it, but they are not sharing with you.

What is happiness?

By checking your own happiness, you will know what you want in your life.

What is the happiest moment in my life?

However, it needs to know the difference between the real happiness and not real happiness.

No one can define for you what is real happiness.  Only you can know it.

When I was a little kid, I was in a poor family.   We need to struggle for the food for tomorrow almost everyday.   By the time my father was working far away in Hong Kong and I was in Macao,   living with my grandma,  because my mother was dead already.

One day when I was clearing the old stuff in my living place, that was a dark room without window, I found a hundred dollar note suddenly.  I was so happy it seems all problems of our family was gone. It was never in my life to see a bank note in such an amount. I sat down to take a paper to write immediately to my father,  telling him the sudden wealth and was extremely happy that our fate of poverty had ended.  Soon  I got a reply from my father, he told me that was the money when every thing was in a chaos when my mother was serious sick by then.  And he told me how to handle the money and how to use it for the coming days.

Can money be a real source of happiness?

I think it can be judged by those who have it.

Material need is on the first level in your life.  There are so many levels on top of it.   Any one can try them one by one.   From the basic level of survival money to the higher level to your fame and achievement.   And there will be more levels above your achievement.   Until one day you find it is not enough still.   You are still searching for an unknown happiness ahead of you.

And it is a long way without end. 

It is important to have a goal ahead of you without end....... It will be a tragic moment if you find it is really the end.  In the long long time of your life, you will learn where to search for your real goal.

And it will not be your "safe lodging"(歸宿).   

It is the difference of the Chinese culture and the West.   But a safe lodging concept is not enough.   It is for the self and only for the self.   A more happy moment is in the dedication of one's effort.

Because the dedication is real.  The dedication is for everyone.   Your true happiness will be there forever.

And happiness can be given away.   When you try to make other people happy,  forgetting about your own situation........you will have it.

Popular thoughts about meaning is money: But it is  the source of unhappiness.  

Happiness is in somewhere else other than money. 

Although few can refuse the help of money. And people will be happy if they are rich suddenly.  However, the situation cannot be determined only by money.  There is many other issues besides money. 

It is sure if someone finds his life meaningful,  he will be happy.

What is meaningful?

No other people can tell you what is meaningful but yourself.   If you think it's meaningful and it is.

Because you are the boss of your own life.

Many people cannot trust themselves.   They must wait for other people to tell them what is what.  They cannot think independently.   They cannot know they will be happy if they thought so.

It is so simple yet many people cannot know it is really simple.

Yes, you will be happy if you think you are.

Then you'll be happier and happier.

Please try.  You will be happy.

What is truely bad in the science era?

I just finished watching a video speech by an AI expert in an American university.   He  seems to be a Chinese in blood, but he is totally American.

He was excited about the AI development in the States. He encouraged his students to keep on  AI study.  It is understandable.

But it seems to be a complete dominance in the brains of the American intellectuals:  There is nothing else except technology.

They will not care anything outside the sphere of  their eyesight.

It is all because of the AI can push American economy.    The real meaning is that:  It's all about money.

No one can neglect AI.   It is the backbone of modern economy.   But a bone cannot support your whole life.    You need to have a heart and many things else.   It is utterly meaningless to fight with skeletons  in a heartless world of deserts.

But you need to do that anyway,  if the heartless trend is going on like this,  planes, submarines and tanks will be in your door steps.

It needs to be a truly human to stand against all that.

There will be no love. No feeling. No arts. No music in a world of economy.

Everyone is searching for money and money only.

People with a  feeling need to stand up to show the love.

Almost none of the productions in the past few decades can reach the height of the original version of the Swan Lake. The only best version was a performance by Anthony Dowell and Natalia Makarova. You can view it from YouTube: “Swan Lake Makarova Dowell”.

The story is simple, yet few can understand. 

The Princess was bewitched by the Devil, turning her into a slave swan. The Prince wanted to shoot the Devil to save the Princess, however, the Princess used her body to stop the shooting. She told him that if the Devil is dead then the spell will never be broken, and she would remain a slave swan forever. The spell is that the Princess must find a true love. If she can find one, then the spell will be broken. 

Almost none of the productions in the long years can understand this point. They thought it is easy to break the spell. They would stage a scene to let the Prince fight with the Devil and it happened in almost all the productions that it is easy for the Prince to kill the devil with his external muscle. 

They do not know what is true love. 

In the original version, the Princess finally jumped into the cliff and the Prince followed immediately. It was in this moment the mind of the two was shown and the Devil felt to his final death on the stage floor, as the spell is finally broken. May be the jumping is not acceptable to many and they cannot find another scenario to show what is true love. And it is very strange once they cannot know what is true love, the whole production would become tasteless and the other dances and music in the production would be mediocre. 

The question is can you kill the devils by putting them into jail?

And it is not easy to “educate” the new generation about what is true love.

Many cannot even “love” anyone in this material world. They know only to “own” someone and chase after material life.

However, we have found that the scenario is changing. 

Humans are changing in the human evolution.

Humans are changing from a state of self-interest to a state of mutual cooperation. 

It is the basic difference of Capitalism and Socialism. Though the world is complicated and many different thoughts appeared, but the trend is here. We humans are changing from a selfish mindset to a total mindset. Humans need to cooperate more than war. It is not easy to predict how long the process will last and what would happen during the evolution stages. However, one would easily know the direction of the human progress. 

Yet the most difficult part is you will not know who is the devil. They are all hidden and disguised. And you need to fight with them. They would take over your country and sell it. Human evolution had to suffer such setbacks sometimes. History will not be easy and straightforward.

And the Swan Lake has a clue. 

The only tool to fight with the devil is “True Love”.

What is “True Love” then? 

We human beings are evolving from a status of selfishness to a status of mutual cooperation. 

And true love needs to completely understand life. 

Life is not material posession but dedication. 

Life is not to bully, to loot, to fight for personal interest. Life is to give, to work, to help, to love.

When all these had become a norm for this and next generations, the devil will be gone. 

We are living in a material and filthy society, there are lots of place for the devils to hide. They can hide decades and decades waiting for a time to overturn the country. 

Our first question is why the Swan Lake is so difficult to understand. 

Now we have the second question: Why true love is so difficult to understand? 

If we can understand life which is not difficult, we would definitely know what is true love. And we would win the war with the hidden devils.

For example,  the teacher of a small school.  He has 1000 student to handle.  And its not very difficult for him.  He can even visit the homes of the students.

Now he is the chief of 1000 schools.  He has one million students to handle.  And later he become the education chief of a country.  He needs to care about a thousand million students.

He is a teacher no more.

The calculation was 1:1000 at first.

Now it is 1:1000000000.....

Can he still talk heartilly with each student and their parents?

It is impossible, and reasonable.

Miracles did happen.

He can still reach each student's heart.

The system is perfectly ok.

How could he do that?

And the question is: how big can a business be run in one brain?

Can he handle all the business without sleeping?

The first emperor of Qin is hard working.  Qin Shi Huang read reports in  big baskets. According to legend, he often worked through the night without sleep. He not only read them but also had to approve them. 

Even writing a single word "granted"(可) was no simple task.

The secret of a good management of a big business is still a secret up till now.

Why Russia is important?

Russia is the only country which covers the East and the West.

Russia is an Eastern country, yet it is also a Western country.

Russia is politically important.

And Russia is important in culture.

The spirit of love is better expressed in the literature works of Russia.   No other literature works from Western Europe can compare with Tchaikoski or Tolstoy,  not to mention Dostoevsky (陀思妥耶夫斯基). The depth of human nature in literature and music is a source to study Russia.

What does it mean?

Does it mean literature is the only measurement of a nation?

The insight of Tolstoy and Tchaikovsky is not deniable.   They can tell you more about the nature of a nation than anything else.

The world needs a quiet inspection of minds.

Lacking the communication between minds is dangerous.

Actually, most of the human conflicts can be solved if a better understanding from the inner sources is not willfully neglected.

All political conflicts are external.  And the external conflicts can be created wrongly or willfully.

The three nations of the US,  China, and Russia have no reason and no real conflict to fight with each other.

What is the biggest differences in the US-China cultures?

The US people  are left brain oriented,  while Chinese are right brain oriented.

To make it simple, we can put it in another way:

The United States people are more logical,  while the Chinese people are more intuitional.

The above observation might need a long term study.   For the time being, we could have a first impression about their behaviour.

Languages are only the first issues of the brain function.   Because we are not thinking in languages only.

It could be more easy if we use only languages to think.

The case is that we are thinking in a more subtle way,  more than any languages can express.

When we think, there could be no language and no diagrams and no voices and no movements in our thoughts.   You can express your conclusion in language.  It is only a result from your thought.  Languages cannot express all the details in your thought.

And you cannot say the Chinese uses only the right brain,  and the United States people uses only  the left brain.   It could be absurd.

You can only observe the style or inclination from their expressions.

For some observers,  they can see more from the  preferences of the brains.

It could be interesting.
