How long can a monkey live?

How long can a monkey live?

We are given different life spans.  Differences may be good for us, but it creates also inequality and tragedies sometimes.   Please refer to my story:   "The monkey and a little yellow flower".   My mother died when I was 11 years old,   I would say it is good for me for my later development. ........If  I was not living like a wild street boy,  I will not be Leechard now.....

from AI:

The lifespan of a monkey varies dramatically depending on the species, and whether it lives in the wild or in captivity. There is no single answer, but generally, smaller monkeys tend to have shorter lives, while larger ones can live for several decades.

📊 Lifespan by Species (Examples)

Here is a look at the average and maximum lifespans for some well-known monkey species, primarily based on data from captive populations:

· Common Marmoset: Average 5–10 years, maximum 21 years.

· Squirrel Monkey: Average 20 years, maximum 30 years.

· Tufted Capuchin: Average 10–17 years, maximum 45 years.

· Rhesus Macaque: Average 25–40 years, maximum 40 years.

· Japanese Macaque: Average 28–32 years, maximum 39 years.

· Olive Baboon: Average 25–30 years, maximum 38 years.

🌳 Wild vs. Captivity

The environment plays a huge role in how long a monkey lives.

· In Captivity: With regular food, medical care, and protection from predators, monkeys often live longer. For example, a Rhesus macaque in the wild lives about 18 years, but in a research center with excellent care, it can live up to 38 years.

· In the Wild: Life is tougher due to predators, disease, and food scarcity. However, for some species, wild lifespans can still be impressive. Rhesus macaques, for instance, can live 30–36 years in the wild.

💡 Key Takeaways

· Old World vs. New World: Old World monkeys (like macaques and baboons) often live longer (up to ~25+ years) than New World monkeys (like marmosets and capuchins), which typically live up to ~20 years.

· Record Breakers: Some individuals far exceed averages. A Capuchin monkey named Ma lived to be at least 47 years old in captivity.

How long can an elephant live?

(Another stimulation for us......)

The lifespan of an elephant is impressively long, but it varies depending on the species and, quite significantly, whether they live in the wild or in captivity. Generally, African elephants tend to live longer than Asian elephants.

🐘 Lifespan by Species

· African Elephant: The average life expectancy is around 70 years. In the wild, they can live up to 70 years or even slightly more, making them one of the longest-living mammals.

· Asian Elephant: The average life expectancy is roughly 60 years in the wild. However, some individuals have been known to live for over 80 years, particularly in captivity or under human care.

🌳 Wild vs. Captivity

A crucial factor is the environment. Studies indicate that wild elephants generally live significantly longer than those in zoos.

· In the Wild: Elephants in protected areas can live more than twice as long as those in European zoos. For example, one study found the median lifespan for wild African elephants in Kenya's Amboseli National Park was 56 years, compared to just 17 years for zoo-born females.

· In Captivity: Life expectancy in captivity can vary widely. Some research shows average lifespans for captive African elephants around 33 years in North America, with even lower averages (around 17-19 years) reported in some European zoo populations. For captive Asian elephants, averages are often cited around 45 years.

💡 Key Takeaways

· Species Matters: African elephants typically have a longer average lifespan (~70 years) compared to Asian elephants (~60 years).

· The "Wild Advantage": Despite the hardships of predators and disease, wild elephants live much longer on average than their captive counterparts.

· Record Breakers: The maximum known lifespan for an Asian elephant is over 80 years, showing the potential for these animals to live exceptionally long lives under the right conditions.

What are the top secrets for human?

 20261030

What are the top secrets for human?

If we know the top secrets of human, then we will not be human.  We will be another species above human.

What is above human?

For example, if you can know the secret of time, you'll be above human.

I would rather to use the term "above human" more than superhuman.

We have at least three secrets here:

What is time, what is space and what is human?

And actually, these three things are not important at all.

Time has no beginning and time has no ending. That could be a secret.

Space is more or less the same.

Space has no boundary.

We can never imagine anything without boundary.

And then in such a space and time, it comes something we call it "human".

If I tell you humans are not humans but only "deeds", it might not be  surprising.

What are the human deeds for?

Can the deeds of humans change the universe sometimes later?

Will humans be the major cause of the entire universe?

Will there be some unknown reasons behind everything?

The only thing we need is to escape from the  boundary of human thoughts.

You must be thinking like a non-human to search for the ultimate secrets.

And it is not easy.

You must elevate yourself from human to non- human, then you might have a better standing point to "see" into the ultimate truth of this little universe.

How "not-easy" is that?

You might need another life to study it.

Now is the time of importance to the human race.

Because we are forgetting the religious stories to ponder about the universe.

Perhaps we need to forget about the scientific stories too.

What we need most is an urge to know more.  And the urge must be beyond the control of religions and science fictions.

Religion is a discipline of thoughts.

And science is is more or less the same:

Science is also a discipline of thoughts.

I dare not to oppose them both.

I dare not to fight against disciplines.

I wish to have someone who dares.

I am expecting miracles.

Because I believe humans are miracles.

Why love is a simple thing?

 20261029

Why love is a simple thing?

Two years ago I have written a story: "Monkey and a little yellow flower".

Actually, it is a simple love story.   It is very natural,  the monkey fell in love with a flower,  they have only three days getting together.   Because the life of the flower was only three days.

They saw each other and they loved each other and then the flower died.

It is simple and not complicated.

Love is simple.  But modern people are considering too many things about love.  Especially when money is involved,  love will become difficult and complicated.

講錢失感情........

Talking about money loses one's feelings.

Money is an obstacle to emotion.  And this is the major obstacle to modern evolution of human wisdom.

No matter how much wisdom there are,  once financial problem is involved,   wisdom will be lost like draining water.

Can people keep their wisdom like money?

It is obviously not possible.

Clever people can make quick money but wisdom cannot help.

That's why people are driving away wisdom like rubbish......

It is a dirty world without wisdom.

..

Aren't we going the same way?

 20261029

Aren't we going the same way?

I aways wonder the vastness of the universe.   It is very difficult to imagine about such a place without limit.   If you are flying to a certain direction towards any point in this universe,  you need to bring things enough for your life time  until one day you are dead and your corpse will still be flying........

What is the situation?

It is the situation of the planet earth.

We are doing the same thing flying towards somewhere unknown.   The only difference is you cannot manipulate the direction.  You can only follow.  But it is the same.   It doesn't matter, even if you have a direction or have not any direction.

It is quite different from our personal life.

You might have a personal direction of your life.  You might have done something.  But the result is always within the planet earth.

Where are you going,  my dear planet earth?

There will be no answer for you.

The answer must be in your own mind.   Maybe you have a will.  But your will will not exceed the limit of the planet earth. It is ok with me.  Like the little flowers I am growing,  or the deeds I am doing.......Aren't they important?

I think so..........

My corpse is flying,  with my soul.

.

Why am I forgetting sometimes?

 20261028

Why am I forgetting sometimes?

I have designed or invented a "sound pole" for my guitar.  I installed almost all my guitars with the inner sound poles to make them sound better with the poles as a connection between the floors of the instrument.

By such a little design, I can change a $500 cheap guitar into a $5000 better one.

However,  next morning when I inspect my newly designed guitar,  I have found the poles were missing.  I had forgotten the important step.

How come I was so careless?

If I was in the war field, can I forget to bring my gun?

It was the lesson my school teacher taught me many years ago.

And now,  I will make an effort not to forget things anymore......It might be of some importance.

Do not forget things anymore.

.....

Actually I did not mean to write about the trivials.  I wish to study more important matters.

Should we humans forget to search our roles as a human?

or,

Should we Chinese forget to search our roles as a Chinese?

But its too big a subject to talk about.....though I will never forget it.

..

..

Whiy learning Chinese is important?

 20261027

Why learning Chinese is important?

Because it is the only format different from  western languages.

Chinese is not merely a second language for your choice.

It is the second brain to think.

There are many  spelling languages in this world, but there might be only one Chinese language which doesn't need spelling.   I hope people can discover more non-spelling languages in the world in the future.

To talk in a non-spelling way:

That means you are switching your brain if you use Chinese to think.

The Chinese language is using a different side of the brain.

It is intuitional rather than logical.

You can get to the point directly without going a longer path.

" It is not logical ".........

But you can feel and see the result by going deeply into it.

How do the Chinese think?

 20261026

How do the Chinese think?

I have been changing my mind in writing about the subject here.  I am reluctant to talk about it. If I tell you all the features and all the special ways how the Chinese think, enemies could beat them easily as the weaknesses were so obvious and its a disadvange in wars of cultures.  Cultural weakness could be an easy target of shooting,   although sometimes the weakness is a strong fortress,  not easily be a target.

How do the Chinese think?

Hope I can tell you more in a safe place, not now.

Why awareness is important?

 20261025

Why awareness is important?

Most people do not become aware during their lifetime.  Perhaps dying can bring awareness, but by then it is useless and too late.

The state before awareness is innocence, or  ignorant.

To be naive is good,  anyone can enjoy a naive period in life.

It is the most luxurious thing the Creator has given us.

If you can keep your sense of naivete  in your whole time, you can enjoy your life better....though you might not know you are enjoying.

You need some awareness to really enjoy your life.

You may be aware that you are small and you are weak, but still you want to do something.

You want to do more.

You know that you cannot fly and you cannot reach the end of the universe, but still you want to know more.

This kind of awareness is meaningful.

We are more or less expected to be like that.

The moon is in front of my bed.

I thought it was the frost.

I wish to see the moon,

but I have no money to go home.

I am afraid of the moon.

It was cold up there.

How can I sleep tonight,

Please bring me to the dreamland.

The moon is in front of my bed.

I thought it was the snowy frost.

There was a moon in the sky.

But the night is too long for me.

It is hope, spreading everywhere.

But the angel on the moon is lonely.

I am thinking only you,

The angel is on the moon.

What is the implication of infinity?

 20261024

What is the implication of infinity?

We are living in a place of unlimited boundary.   We know almost nothing about the infinitive upon us.

Humans can reach only a very small spot in in this infinity.

We might never be able to travel around this infinity.

It is upon this situation, humans developed lots of ideas about this infinity, including religion.

Only one word can tell the situation of human:

We are ignorant.

What can an ignorant person do?

The choice of most people is to forget.

They just attend to the daily life and daily living.

It is normal and it is vital because living is most important.

If you are not able to live, that means you are not able to understand.

However, humans are living in organizations.

Humans are organized.

They can always share a part of their energy to watch the infinitive...... Although it is almost useless.

But awareness is important.

We must keep ourselves alerted in such a situation.

..

Can you imagine a place without boundary?

 20261023

Can you imagine a place without boundary?

It means:  the universe.   However, the universe is completely outside the imagination of humans.   It is unimaginable.

Because in our limited experiences,   everything has got a boundary, nothing is without boundary.   It is completely reasonable to have a place without boundary.   If the universe has got a boundary,  that means the universe has got an outside.....

I suppose only a limited few people would be interested to see what is there outside the universe.

Most of the folks just don't care.

But if you dig deeper into it, you will be excited.

Any other things might be no boundary.

For example, your own imagination is no boundary.

You might feel exhausted if you keep imagining.   But you can take a rest to continue your  imagination.

What will you see if you keep traveling in this unlimited space?

There might be something extraordinary happening out there.

The old findings are frightening.

They said there is no oxygen and no air that you cannot breathe anywhere.

But what if the problem is solved sometimes later?

Can you be still traveling around there?

Do you dare to imagine you can fly unlimited spaces?

It is only a dream.

But if you dare not to dream, you got nothing.

And you can replace your dreams with your imagination.

How would a place without boundary be like?

Let me tell you something real.

The human mind is unlimited.  Human imagination has got no boundary.

You can think as far as you can go.

The term fiction is very bad.

It is not a fiction.   And fiction is not the same as imagination.

You can go as far as you can.

It is true.

Do the universe need a purpose?

 20261023

Do the universe need a purpose?

It occurred to me that the universe needs not a "purpose".

"purpose" is for humans only.  Even a cat or a flower does not need a purpose.

Only the species of human needs a purpose.

Because a purpose is not only for its own.   You must be considering something. You must be considering something for yourself and for others. Because your survival is not solely on your own.

It seems too philosophical, but it is true.

If you buy something or if you eat something, it is all beneficiary to others.

Your survival and your existence is needed.

That means you are useful no matter how you think.

Because humans are all related.

Now the question remains unanswered.

What is your purpose to survive in this place?

That is not an easy question to answer.

But you can find it in a larger scope.

What is the purpose of your country to survive in the forest of nations?

You'll be much stronger if you can answer that.

 .

What is the ultimate secret of this universe?

 20261022

What is the ultimate secret of this universe?

If you ask the unknown about this question, there will be some answers for you:  you have it already.

The answer could be in the lessons you have learned long ago:  love, wisdom,  etc.

Those are the items I can never really understand.  Does it mean I can never understand the ultimate secret of the universe?

Older people have created the concept of god to answer that question,  and now if you refuse to accept the old concept,  and if you think god is one of the unknowns in this universe,  and you cannot tell whether god is inside or outside this universe.....

And the term "outside" is stinging.....because there might not be any "outside" of our universe......there is no outside.....

Yes,  the inside outside concept might be not  appropriate.  But you have no other concept to replace it.

It seems to be an end of your question.   If there is no outside there will be no god, if there will be no god, then there will be no answer.

And that is wrong also.

Because you can always leave the answers for the future generation to seek.

Because you believe there will be a wiser person in the future.

And what am I going to do?

Lots of things are waiting for you,  don't worry.

You haven't done what you are supposed to do.

Get back to work.

Where are the ghosts?

 20261021

Where are the ghosts?

It is almost unbelievable.   There are no ghosts.  There are only guys: Good  guys, bad guys, smart guys, stupid guys, etc.

You can never find a ghost in the street.  Everyone will tell you they are guys only.

It seems it is safe everywhere, anywhere.

Will there be any secret meetings underground?

Will there be everyone a loyalist?

If so,  its heaven on earth already.

This is the least thing I can believe.

The secret underground party had tried to kill me several times over the years.   They put drugs in my drink, and tried running me down with cars.

I am only a small one.  Yet they wanna to do away me.

Will there be some secret plot under somewhere?

It is strange if there is no ghost,  thus said Chairman Mao.

I think he is right.

But where are the ghosts?

They must be everywhere eating heartily together with you.

They are always eating and laughing.

But they are ghosts anyway.

And I believe:  They will  never again eating happily together with you.

Ghosts can change face quickly.

Should the aim of your life be eating?

 20261020 B

Should the aim of your life be eating?

This is the theme of a popular film in China recently.

To promote eating but nothing else is the major theme of some negative powers in China.

It could be the best means to harness China  without using military force.

And it could be the worst scenario for a whole nation of people aiming for eating but nothing else.

What is the aim of your life?

What is the aim of your country?

Eating could be the best choice for the negative and  foriegn promoters.

Do we need to have a theme in our life?

Do we need an aim for something in our living?

Those were the terms forgotten long ago.

The film is so popular that it can remind us of something:

Culture is a warfare.

By occupying your culture means taking away your mind.

If your mind is captured,  your country would soon follow.

..

What is the theme of humans?

 20261020

What is the theme of humans?

Seldom have people thought about such a title. They have not consider it is necessary to have a theme of their everyday performances.

And the idea about performances might be wrong.

Because humans do not have audiences.

They are not performing. Humans are only living. A performing actor needs to have a theme.   But a living person needs not.......

Are we performing for some unseen audiences somewhere?

If you are singing in your bathroom you might have thought so.   Maybe you are singing for some unseen audiences in the other end of the universe?

It is very unlikely, but you can imagine.

We might be living for an audience.

From a very old Chinese proverb:   舉頭三尺有神明....

The divine is watching from three feet above your head.

The divine is your audience.

And I believe: our ancestors are watching, too.

If they are watching, then I must be performing.

If I am performing, I must have a theme.....

..

Can humans determine their purpose?

 20261019

Can humans determine their purpose?

If you can decide your own purpose,  then humans can decide their own purpose too.

The universe is a strange place.  It is a big problem for humans to think:  Why there is a universe like this exists?   What are we for in this universe?   The problem has become more serious if you believe that human is the only species in this universe.   There will not be alients to help us or against us.   Maybe it is too early to say such things.  There might or might not be aliens in the future.  But from my own instinct,   I think there was no aliens in the past and there will be no aliens in the future.

However, another puzzle is more serious:   Is there a "will" upon us?

It is not easy to answer and there is no one can come back after death to tell us. But I can tell you I believe it.   If you believe there is a soul, then you know there is a will. And the most wonderful things about human is in their ability to communicate.... And may I repeat once more: If you have a soul, you must have a will.  Everything is meaningful and beautiful with such an arrangement.

Because you have a soul, then you have a will, then you need to communicate your wills in your soul:   you are not alone,  you wish to communicate to join the wills together.

Why do you need to do so?

It could be very easy to answer if you believe there is a will upon you.

..

What is the purpose of human?

 20261018

What is the purpose of human?

You can fly higher,  it needs not very high, just enough to see humans walking  like ants and their cars buses like slow moving toys.  You wonder what they are working for.

It seems clear at first.   Yes, all are working for a living.  We are all living under a fear that someday we would starve and need to save more.....but it is for elder persons only:  Young people have something else to think of.

But if you are now in the outer space and you can see them like a strange species, your thoughts will come up differently.

Aren't we transforming the planet earth?

People will tell you even the atmosphere is different.

Then the question will come up like ghosts behind you:

What next?

It could be political, but it could not be an event......

We need to have some wiser people to tell us more....

But the answers could not be a purpose.

What is the purpose of your own life?

What is the purpose of your country?

What is the purpose of us humans?

What is the purpose of the sun and the moon?

What is the purpose of our universe?

It is all wonderful things to think of......(if you have a silly friend together with you)

..

Who am I?

 20261017

Who am I?

This is a difficult question.

Because it could only be answered in different levels.

Now let us design a level in the outer space.

You'll be arriving here far, far away.  Because you cannot settle that question from your mind.

In a split second of the mind,   suddenly you find that you can answer that question.   Because actually you can see yourself.   It is not in a mirror,  it is in a little rock.   It seems like a dream, but it is not a dream.   You felt you can ask the rock.

"Why are you here?"   "I didn't suppose I can find you here."

"Who are you?"

The rock will answer:  " I am you "

You examine the rock,  and the rock is examining you.

You have a shock suddenly:  " Who are you? "

And you don't need to wait for an answer because you have got it already.

" Yes, I am human "

The above is only one of the levels that you can choose.

You will realize that you are human far away from the planet earth.

That will be the one and only true answer.

Who are you?

The best and most proper answer will be:

" I am human "

Why you need to go to such a far away space to confirm the answer here?

It is only in such a far away place you can know that you as a rock represents something extraordinary.

Human is more than extraordinary.

Human represents.

Human represents the universe.

This time, if you ask yourself, who am I?

You have a proper answer.

" I am the universe. "

..
