Elephant tears -  How communication is possible

I visited an Elephant farm in  Thailand.   It is not far from Chiang Mai.  About one and a half hours driving.

I used to learn that communication with animals are possible.   And it's more easy to communicate with larger animals.

I tried to communicate with horses before.  

And now I try to communicate with my elephants.

We walked the elephants to the riverside; its completely different from walking a dog.

The sun is hot.  I have found a banana leaf on the roadside.   I put the banana leaf on my head to keep away the sun.

I didn't realize the elephant was walking behind me.  

Suddenly I felt someone was grabbing my leaf.  

The elephant just took it and ate it immediately.  within one second,  the leaf was gone.   She rolled up the long banana leaf like noodles.

I managed to find a few  minutes to talk with the  elephant alone.

I told the elephant: "I love you", and I was very close to her,  may be only a few inches.

And suddenly I found tears were flowing from her eyes,  It was from her left eye, as I can see only one side in such near distance.

It was a few drops of tears flowing like clear drops of water. 

I didn't know what happened.   It came so sudden that my thought was not clear.

When I turned away from the elephant,  I found I was crying too.

I love you.
