Why are  tea- restaurants  popular in Hong Kong?

Tea- restaurants are really popular in Hong Kong.

It is not a fast food restaurant(快餐廳),    It is not a first class restaurant(貴價餐廳).  It is not a tea house(茶樓).  It is only a very common (茶餐廳).

Why is it accepted and popular?

One is the booth-seat(卡位).  It is not completely private,  but its higher raised seat back keeps out some of the views from other customers. Its a half-private place.  You can have a comfortable time without disturb.

You can simply order a drink and keep yourself comfortable for a time.

Or you can have your dinner or lunch or breakfast here. You are free and it is up to you.

It is not like those high price restaurants.  You need to be properly dressed.

You are free in a tea-restaurant anyway.

And you need not to lower your voice. You can talk freely with your friends here.

And most important of all,  its not expensive,  its affordable.

Only one thing I will never do is to open my guitar and sing here.  I prefer singing in the streets. But singing in the street is not allowed in Singapore,  it is a regret.
